What is the difference between Indica and sativa?
Indica and Sativa are the two different types of medical marijuana. Each one looks different and produces different effects on the body. Indica plants are shorter and thicker with dark leaves. Indica strains are typically known to create a full-body high that is best enjoyed when relaxing and unwinding.
Sativa plants are longer with light green, narrow leaves. Generally speaking, sativa strains create more of a cerebral effect that is uplifting and stimulating, best for day-time use.
There are also hybrid strains that have a combination of both Indica and Sativa properties. You can filter through these different strains and THC/CBD potency on our menu to see what best fits your needs.
It is important to note that most strains now are hybrid strains, so the terms indica and sativa aren’t always accurate for describing every medical marijuana product’s effects. More recently, a strain’s terpenes have become more indicative of expected effects.
What are terpenes?
Terpenes are the aromatic compounds found within medical marijuana that give each strain its unique smell. Terpenes also play a vital role in the effects of medical marijuana. With over 100 different terpenes found in the cannabis plant, researchers are continuing to study and learn more about the plant and its components. For a quick overview, check out our blog post that explores terpenes and their effects.
